How pay works
Straight answers about money.
This is a commission-based business you build yourself. Here is exactly how agents get paid.
Commissions
When a policy you help a family get is issued, the insurance company pays a commission. The amount depends on the product, the carrier and your contract level.
Renewals
Some products pay smaller renewal commissions in later years while the policy stays in force. Taking good care of clients matters.
Leadership
As you grow, you can train and support new agents and earn overrides on their business, as set out in your contract.
The honest part: there is no salary and no guaranteed income. Results depend on your effort, the products you sell and your contract. That is why many people start part-time.

Common questions
Do I need experience in finance or sales?
No. Most people start with no background. You will learn the products, the rules and the conversations step by step.
Is this a salaried job?
No. Agents are independent and paid on commission. There is no salary and no guaranteed income. What you earn depends on your effort, the products you sell and your contract.
Can I start part-time?
Yes. Many people start part-time while keeping their current job, then decide later how far they want to take it.
Does getting licensed cost money?
Yes. The Hawaii exam, licensing and background check have fees. We walk you through each one and the current amounts before you start.
I speak Vietnamese. Is that useful?
Very. Many Vietnamese-speaking families in Hawaii want to talk about money in their own language, and training and client work can happen in Tiếng Việt.

Curious? Start with a conversation.
A no-pressure intro call with Sony. Ask anything about licensing, schedule and how pay works.
Important disclosures
Agents are independent contractors paid on commission. There is no salary and no guaranteed income. Earnings depend on individual effort, the products sold, carrier contracts and other factors. Results vary widely and some agents earn little, especially at first. A Hawaii insurance producer license and carrier appointments are required before selling insurance, and licensing involves exam, licensing and background check fees. Nothing on this page is an offer of employment or a promise of income.
